BUCKLE UP
 NORTHERN TERRITORY
THE PBR IS HEADING YOUR WAY

It’s a well-known fact that they breed them tough in the Northern Territory and after 18 months of planning the Professional Bull Riders is preparing to deliver Darwin one of the toughest shows on dirt, a round of the national PBR Touring Pro Series.

The inaugural event scheduled for Friday May 25 & Saturday May 26 will take place at Darwin’s Robbie Robbins Reserve and will bring with it 2 huge nights of extreme action with superstar match ups between the best bulls and the most accomplished bull riders from around Australia.

“We’re really excited about expanding our Touring Pro Series into the Northern Territory and Darwin in particular,” said PBR Australia President and former World Champion Troy Dunn. “Not only will we be bringing a high quality production, we also plan to deliver one of the toughest competitions taking place around Australia”.

With over $15 000 in prize-money up for grabs and this being the second last event for riders to qualify into the International Cup Series and National Finals events in July, spectators can be assured this is going to be one very tough and exciting competition with the event champion being undecided until the last bull has bucked.

Taking on a tonne of beast is one big feat and when it is done by the best cowboys in the country, on the back of the nation’s most malicious bulls, its edge of your seat sporting entertainment from start to finish. Two huge nights of dangerous drama on dirt and one of the best night’s entertainment you’ll ever experience.

If big bulls, brave riders and entertainment weren’t enough, the PBR Touring Pro Series is decked out like a concert event: pyrotechnics, video screens and a chest-thumping sound system, in what can only be described as one of the most exciting sporting events to tour this country.

PBR events are not your average type of competition, the whole event is choreographed to deliver great bull riding, which culminates into a final championship round where the top 10 scorers in the event go ahead to head with the 10 toughest bulls in the pen. To win this level of competition one needs to not only make the whistle consistently but hope that he has drawn the best bull in the competition that can deliver him the highest score possible as they are competing against 39 other riders of equal ability.

Leading PBR arena announcer, Warren Matotek plays a very important role in this sport; he’s there to educate the crowd giving them backgrounds on each rider and bull along with an in-depth analysis of each ride or buck off. Matotek, a former bull rider himself has worked with the best in the business in Australia and overseas, his knowledge on the sport and his style of commentating keeps spectators glued to their seats from start to finish.

What makes the PBR events stand out from the rest is a number of factors; fans love it because they get to witness great match ups between man and beast, the best protection athletes in the business who will put their body’s on the line each and every time for a fallen cowboy, combined with expert commentary and video clips that give them the ultimate bull riding experience. The riders love it because the bulls are tough yet consistent giving each rider equal opportunity to win an event. In addition to this all points and money they win on the PBR Touring Pro Series counts towards the multi-million dollar World Finals in Las Vegas each year and the Australian Champion receives an automatic wild card entry.

Darwin is a destination we have been aiming to establish a tour event for quite some time, states PBR General Manager, Glen Young. It’s a great city with strong country heritage and it makes sense for us to allocate one of our top ten premier Touring Pro Series events to this city and this is one event we are very much looking forward to.
