Chinchilla Bull Rider wins Cooyar Qld!

(February 27, 2012) – The 2012 Cooyar Show Bull Ride sanctioned by Professional Bull Riders (PBR) battled through the rain and surrounding flooded areas to deliver top level bull riding to a crowd of dedicated fans.  After not being able to proceed with a number of show events earlier in the day the committee decided to battle through the elements and delivered the PBR event.

Chinchilla’s Anthony Ellem started off the scoring in the first round on Just Right with a score of 82 points.  Corey Waterson from Scone NSW recorded the next best score with 78 points on Katt Napp followed by Kentucky NSW’s Andrew Kelly who rode Short Shift for 77 points and third in the round. 
The adjusted format of 25 bull riders over 2 rounds of competition meant everyone had a second chance to record a score.   Trefor Sproule from Singleton NSW capitalized on this opportunity recording an 86 point ride on Smackdown and captured the event lead.

David Mason from Bulahdelah NSW has been Mr Consistent on the PBR tour since returning from injury adding an 83 point ride to his first round score of 75 points for a total of 158 points.   Anthony Ellem had drawn Stumpy in the final section and was sitting in a good position to take out his first PBR event title.  He was equal to the task and recorded the high mark ride of the event with 88.5 points and the overall event win.

Ellem was very excited with his win and keen to get to more PBR events over the coming months so he can qualify and compete alongside bull riders from Canada and the United States at the 2012 PBR Cup Series which will be coming to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on July 14th for the Brisbane Invitational.  Tickets on sale now through Ticketek.
