CHAMPIONS COLLIDE IN BAROOGA
(October 10, 2011) Elite bull riders from around the nation are getting ready to converge on the Barooga Recreation Reserve for the PBR on the Murray - Touring Pro Division event this Saturday night in what is shaping up to be one of the seasons toughest competitions.
Fresh back from a successful World Finals campaign in Las Vegas will be 2011 PBR Australian Champ, Jock Connolly. Connolly won his invitation to the World Finals when he was crowned 2011 Australian Champion, which in turn gave him the opportunity to compete in the first 2 rounds of the competition and the opportunity to progress further. Jock as he is more commonly known put together 2 exceptional rides scoring 86.5 on his first bull and then 88.25 on the next, with not enough money won to progress Jock would sit out the rest of the finals until the last day where his 2 scores were enough to secure him a position in the Championship Round. Un-successful in this round, Connolly would still pocket close to $7000 for his efforts.
Pete Farley from Kempsey NSW is also returning to Australia to compete at Barooga after a successful PBR World Finals. Farley is based in Texas and is a regular on the elite PBR Built Ford Tough Series in the USA. Farley finished off one of his best seasons making it to the Championship Round at the World Finals in Las Vegas.
Not to overlooked are the inform kiwi cowboy, Fraser Babbington and former 2 Times Australian Champion, David Kennedy from Kyogle NSW. Both Kennedy and Babbington have been fighting for the #1 ranking since the first event of the season, with both riders consistent and healthy, all eyes will be on these two cowboys to see who leads going into the next round of competition.
In a PBR competition it is not all about coming to watch great bull riders, but more of a case of seeing them matched against the most extreme bulls the sport has to offer all in the one competition. The PBR on the Murray is shaping up to offer some sensational match ups with both in form riders and bulls scheduled to contest this event.
Yass based bull breeder George Hempenstall will join the Garry McPhee from Lurg Victoria to deliver an extremely tough pen of bulls for this competition. Star bulls like Sandblaster, Hammertone, Maximum Destruction and 2010 PBR Australian Champion Lab Rat are just a select few bulls that will be on show in the final and deciding Championship Round.
With Australia’s rankest bulls, finest bull riders, pyros and the edge-of-your-seat excitement of a PBR show, the PBR on the Murray is one bull ride not to be missed. This is not a rodeo – this is the one and only PBR!
