BATTLE OF THE BULLS IN DAPTO
Elite bull riders from around the nation are getting ready to converge on Dapto Showgrounds for the Integrity Pumps & Engineering PBR Touring Pro Series this Saturday night in what is shaping up to be one of the seasons toughest competitions.
Fresh back from a successful World Finals campaign in Las Vegas will be 2011 PBR Australian Champ, Jock Connolly. Connolly won his invitation to the World Finals when he was crowned 2011 Australian Champion, which in turn gave him the opportunity to compete in the first 2 rounds of the competition and the opportunity to progress further. Jock as he is more commonly known put together 2 exceptional rides scoring 86.5 on his first bull and then 88.25 on the next, with not enough money won to progress Jock would sit out the rest of the finals until the last day where his 2 scores were enough to secure him a position in the Championship Round and join fellow Australian Pete Farley. Un-successful in this round, Connolly would still pocket close to $7000 for his efforts.
Also returning from the USA for this event is Rockhampton, QLD Cowboy & 2011 Rookie of the Year, Jesse Van Nek. Van Nek is another that has had a sensational campaign for his PBR debut year and because of his small stature he is a rider that gets the crowds on the edge of their seats as he battles bulls 20 times heavier than himself.
Not to overlooked are the inform kiwi cowboy, Fraser Babbington and former 2 Times Australian Champion, David Kennedy from Kyogle NSW. Both Kennedy and Babbington have been fighting for the #1 ranking since the first event of the season, with both riders consistent and healthy, all eyes will be on these two cowboys to see who leads going into the next round of competition.
The event is shaping up to be an event filled of drama with 40 riders and 50 buck-outs and one of the best nights out one can experience with a live band and bar to entertain you too late.
Yass based bull breeder George Hempenstall will join L & M Rodeo Company to deliver an extremely tough pen of bulls for this competition. Star bulls like Lab Rat, Hell Boy, Hectic, Dominator & Maximum Destruction are just a select few bulls that will be on show in the final and deciding Championship Round.
If big bulls, brave riders and entertainment weren’t enough, the Dapto PBR Touring Pro event is decked out like a concert event: video screens and a chest-thumping sound system, in what can only be described as “The Toughest Sport on Earth”.
Tickets can be pre purchased through Gloria Jean’s in Dapto Mall or purchased at the gate on the night. Gates open 4pm and Action starts 7pm sharp.
