THE TITANIUM TUFF COWBOY
LUKE SNYDER
21.09.2011
Its official, the 2011 PBR Tamworth Invitational has just secured the 310 event veteran and the leading money earner for the 2011 season, USA’s – Luke Snyder.
29 year old Snyder blasted on the PBR scene back in 2001 when he won both the World Finals Average and Rookie of the Year as a 19 year old. Since then it has been a road of ups and downs, however 2011 is shaping up to be a career year for the Missouri born cowboy.
Ten years on, 1.4 million dollars in career earnings Snyder’s turn-around has been largely due to working out and practising yoga.
“The key is keeping it there,” he said of his newfound confidence. “When you’re getting on these bulls and your confidence level is at the highest it can be, the rest will take care of itself.
“I’ve always had that 5-minute rule. They’re going to get you on the ground every now and then. You’re definitely going to be upset with yourself, but then you’re looking on to the next one about five minutes later.”
Snyder’s been to 23 of 24 events Built Ford Tuff Events from the east coast of the USA to the other. He’s not only ridden in his home country, but also spent a month riding in Australia during the summer break from the BFTS.
His biggest win for 2011 season so far has been the prestigious “Last Man Standing”, a progressive-elimination pay-per-view event at the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas where he pocketed over $218 000 in the one day competition.
In addition to this Bass Pro Shops and PFI Western Wear have teamed up with Snyder to promote a social media contest they’ve dubbed “The Last Fan Standing”.
“It’s kind of like a big scavenger hunt,” said Snyder.
Snyder’s likeness has been printed on well over 3 million Orange Crush cans and life-sized cut-outs of the Titanium Tough cowboy have been set up in grocery stores, convenience stores, petrol stations and fast-food restaurants throughout parts of the USA.
Come Saturday November 26, the PBR Tamworth Invitational in AELEC ARENA is one event title that Snyder would like to add to his career highlights, standing in his way will be 21 of the best Australian and International riders and 52 of the most extreme bucking bulls the PBR can muster in for this competition.
Each rider will compete on 2 bulls each with the top 8 position from the first two rounds then doing battle against the top 8 bulls in the competition. Unique to this competition will be the “Championship Round Draft”; this is where the riders actually have to select their final match up of the night.
This is going to be a night of dangerous drama on dirt, 22 bull riders, 52 buck outs and a night you’ll never forget. Taking on a tonne of beast is one mean feat but when it’s done by the best in the world, on the country’s most extreme bulls, it’s one helluva thing to watch.
If big bulls, elite riders and entertainment weren’t enough, the Tamworth Invitational in AELEC ARENA is decked out like a concert event: pyrotechnics, flamboyant lighting, video screens and a chest-thumping sound system, this is an event not to be missed!
