2011 BUCKING BULL OF AUSTRALIA

Stock contracting father and son team Trevor and Tony Dunne from Duaringa, Queensland not only picked up Bull of the Event at the Brisbane Invitational, but there star bull “That’s Gold” also made a clean sweep at the Sydney PBR National Finals on the weekend winning both the bull of the event as well as the prestigious 2011 Bucking Bull of Australia Title.

Although huge in stature That’s Gold had been previously un ridden leading into the 2011 Cup Series Events, however in his first short go appearance in Brisbane, USA’s Cody Campbell was quick to pick the bull for a rematch after previously being unsuccessful in an attempt back in 2010.

The rematch was to go to Campbell with a 90.5 score. The following weekend at the Troy Dunn Invitational, it would be Australian International, Jason O’Hearn who would pick the bull in the draft and again “That’s Gold” was ridden for another 90.5 score.

The bull was then to be rested, however a late minute call up to the Sydney National Finals seen the bull again being matched against some of the best bull riders in the business and on this occasion would be selected by the current #9 in the World Standings, Ben Jones. Jones would also make a qualified ride scoring 91 points and which gave both rider and bull event wins with the highest marked scores.

Even though the 6 year old Charbray Bull was tested to his limits, it was his explosive starts and extreme athleticism that set him apart from all the other contenders. The Dunne father and son team had always believed the bull had the ability to be one of the greatest and what makes it even more of a success is that he is the prodigy of their extensive breeding program.

Both Trevor & Tony Dunne have been loyal supporters of the PBR in Australia since it’s first inception and not only do they have the current #1 bull in Australia, they have several others in the pipeline, which not only shows the depth of their breeding program but their dedication to making the sport better in this country, PBR Australia President, Troy Dunn states.
