The PBR Invades Julia Creek!
Australia’s Premier Bull Riders head for the Dirt n Dust Festival
(Mar 10, 2011) – The Professional Bull Riders are bucking into Julia Creek Queensland on Saturday 16th April for a night filled with rank bulls, high scores and big wrecks. The Southern Cross Media Dirt n Dust Bull Ride will begin at 7.00pm at the Town and Country Club in Julia Creek.
The Dirt n Dust PBR Challenger Series will showcase some of the most promising rising stars of the PBR, riding alongside fan favorites and veterans, as all the competitors’ face-off against some of the states toughest bucking bulls. Already confirmed is the Goondiwindi bull rider Jim Rowsell who currently leads the Australian Championship Standing and took out second place at the Julia Creek event in 2010, he will be looking to go one better this year. Chris Lowe, the bull riding sensation from Uralla NSW who just missed winning the 2010 PBR Australia Championship will be out to capture his first event win for the season and to decrease Rowsell’s lead.
Last year’s Julia Creek Champion, Grant Wells from Boulia will be back to defend his title. Wells needs a strong finish in this event if he is to have any chance of making the qualifications for this year’s PBR Australian Cup Series.
The PBR Challenger Series offers upcoming bull riders the opportunity to compete in PBR sanctioned events, while earning money to qualify for the PBR's Australian Cup Series and the elite PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas.
The bull power will be equal to the task with North Western Queensland’s premier stock contractor and former Australian Bull Riding Champion Darren Brandenburg joining with Central Queensland’s Kent Hansen to ensure the bulls are of an elite standard. With a newly acquired selection of high profile bulls Brandenburg will bring a truckload of bucking bovines. Hansen’s pen will feature bulls with a strong influence of proven international genetics.
