The Bulls are back in Marrabel!

(Feb 18, 2011) - YOU DON’T FORGET the first time you experience the brutal power of a bull up close. Nothing else compares to watching first hand “Man against powerful beast”.

You certainly won’t forget the person who invited you to experience the Professional Bull Riders. The PBR invites you to share the best as the countdown begins to what can only be described as the greatest bull riding event in South Australia, the Aldinga Home Improvements Professional Bull Riders Challenger Series Marrabel.

Saturday, February 26th will see a tsunami of people converge on the township of Marrabel to witness one of the PBR’s signature events on the annual national tour as bull riders from around the nation battle it out for the massive $10 000 prize-purse and a hand crafted Jeffrey Scott Award Buckle.

With a full book of what can only be described as the nation’s most accomplished riders, the 12th Annual Marrabel event is shaping up to be an event not to be missed. Featuring the likes of NSW bull riders Troy Wilkinson & Brett Hanrahan, who has only just recently returned to Australia after last weekend’s Cup win in Canada. They will be joined by last year’s runner up Jim Rowsell, 2010 Rookie of the Year – Craig Postle and a host of other athletes hungry for a Marrabel Event win and a kick start to their 2011 season.

In a PBR competition it is not all about seeing the best riders but more a case of seeing the best riders being matched against the most extreme bulls the sport has to offer in the one competition and over the years this is something the Marrabel Committee has become renowned for achieving with their event.

Bull Contractors Ron Woodall and Sons from Lyons Victoria and Frank Biddle from South East Queensland have been bringing bulls to this event since it first started with the PBR and their bulls combining with the riders to deliver SA bull riding fans many great rides and this year will be no different.

Both Biddle and Woodall have been involved in the sport for decades and their breeding programs and bloodlines have produced electrifying bulls for the professional bull rider’s circuit. They are well known for bringing a consistent pen of bulls to the events where nearly every rider has the opportunity to go to the pay window if they can successfully stay aboard for the 8 seconds.

The Marrabel committee takes no short cuts when it comes to producing a great bull riding experience, Big Screens give fans the opportunity to witness replays of each ride along with a number of PBR Highlight packages that are focused on further educating the fans about the sport. In addition to that they bring in the nation’s leading Arena Announcer, Warren Matotek to keep the crowds informed and entertained, whilst Shane “Mad Dog” Simpson takes centre arena as the leading bullfighter to protect the riders from the raging bulls.

Once the bull ride is done and dusted all attention moves to the main stage area where the Barking Ants will continue entertaining the crowd into the early hours of Sunday morning, so if it is an action packed weekend you are looking for then be sure to make your way to Marrabel and witness the PBR’s Toughest Sport on Dirt.
