Craig Postle Profile
Craig Postle from Mundubbera Queensland is having his best season so far on the PBR Australia tour. He currently leads the PBR Australia Rookie Bull Rider Standings and is coming off a second place finish at the last PBR Challenger Series event, held at Hervey Bay. Postle showed he could mix it with the big guns when he finished sixth in the first night competition at the PBR Troy Dunn International in May. Craig, the eldest of the Postle brothers, talks with us about his year and beyond.
You are currently having your best season on the PBR Australia tour, what do you think has made the difference with your riding this year?
I’ve started taking it more seriously. Training and keeping fit.
Did you have a special goal that you wanted to achieve when you started the 2010 season?
No not really. I broke my leg at the end of the 09 season so when I came back I was focused about staying healthy and keeping my riding percentage up.
Both you and your brother Matt are currently sitting in the top six bull riders of the PBR Australia Championship Standings. You travel together to just about every PBR across the country. Does it help your performance having a commited brother with similar goals?
Yeah for sure. It’s great having him as a travelling partner. If I do something wrong he’s always there to tell me and help.
Do you have a favourite PBR Bull that you would like to ride?
Trevor and Tony Dunne’s Packin Heat looks like a bull that I would like to get on. He’s got everything that bullriders look for, plenty of kick and spins close to the gate, he also has good timing.
How did you get into bull riding?
My Dad rode. Matty and I started riding steers at home. We went to a few little shows and things went from there.
With the PBR’s international pathways and the opportunity for Australian bull riders to compete both here and on the elite Built Ford Tough Tour in the USA, do you have plans to venture overseas in the future?
Yeah me and Matty were talking about going over next year for a lap.
What are your plans for the remaider of the 2010 PBR season?
Keep my riding percentage up and take it one bull at a time.
What are your bull riding career goals?
The same as most of the other boys, to win an Australian Title and compete on the American Built Ford Tough Series.
