World Class Bull Riding Returns to Condobolin

The world’s toughest sportsmen, Professional Bull Riders, today announced their return to Condobolin this October for another action-packed night of thrills, spills and bovine busting skills.

After a crowd of 2000 fans turned out last year to witness Condobolin’s Professional Bull Riders debut, the word is well and truly out in western New South Wales that bull riding doesn’t get any better than the toughest sport on dirt, the one and only PBR.

The Condobolin Pony Club and Campdraft Grounds will come alive on Saturday, October 2 when the PBR Challenger Series Condobolin unleashes forty of Australia’s finest cowboys and a pen of the nation’s nastiest bovines for three hours of no-holds-barred exhilaration.

Teen sensation Troy Wilkinson from Upper Horton, NSW heads the star-studded line up of cowboys from across the nation. At nineteen years of age, the diminutive and quietly spoken Wilkinson possesses bravery, skill and determination well beyond his years. Throughout the 2009 and 2010 seasons Wilkinson has notched up a swag of top ten finishes and proven himself amongst world-class competition. Wilkinson snared third place in Condobolin last year and has vowed to take the top spot on the podium in 2010.

Uralla cowboy Chris Lowe is another leading contender for this year’s Condobolin title. With very little PBR experience prior to 2009, Lowe has catapulted himself into the spotlight this year with a series of sensational, high scoring rides. A young man who manages to go the eight-second journey on the rankest bulls Lowe is a rider to watch in the championship round, when the toughest bulls are on show.

On the subject of rank bulls, patrons at the PBR Challenger Series Condobolin can expect to see a group of the wildest bovines New South Wales can muster. The leader of the pack is the notorious little bull Labrat from the George Hempenstall (Yass, NSW) stable. Ridden only three times in his PBR career, this 650kg bundle of hate has a reputation for unpredictability and supreme athleticism.

Another bull to test the mettle of any cowboy who dares perch on his back is L & M Rodeo Company’s Tough Hombre. The massive black beast was ridden for 86.5 points by Aussie World Cup representative Ben Jones at the recent 2010 PBR World Challenge Final at Sydney’s Acer Arena.

PBR Australia President Troy Dunn says that he was ecstatic with the crowd numbers at the 2009 PBR Challenger Series Condobolin and is excited the Condobolin Rodeo Committee is able bring Australia’s elite bull riders back to town, as part of the sport’s continuing expansion in New South Wales.

“Having 2000 people out of a population of 2800 come out for the show last year was great to see,” said the 1998 PBR World Champion. “We hope to build on that number this year and once again deliver a superb night of action, featuring Australia’s best bulls, best bull riders and all the rock ‘n’ roll atmosphere of a PBR event.”

The build up to the PBR extravaganza commences at 12pm on Saturday, October 2 at the Condobolin Campdraft and Pony Club with a cutting horse competition, before the bull riding explodes into action at 7.00pm.
