JIM ROWSELL Q & A
Jim Rowsell is a man on a mission and currently leads the 2010 PBR Championship Standings. Strong finishes on the PBR Challenger Series and a win at the PBR World Challenge in Brisbane have put him in the number one spot and in a dominate position midway through the season.
How did it feel to win your first ever PBR Cup event in Brisbane?
Unreal – it is hard to explain. It was a pretty good feeling.
Talk us through your winning ride on Buck Owens at the 2010 PBR World Challenge in Brisbane.
I was pretty confident going in. I knew if I just got on him and tried, it would work out all right. I rode two bulls before that so I felt pretty good going into that short round.
What do you think has made the difference with your riding this year?
I think it was just doing the 12 months last year, getting used to the events last year, there’s not as much pressure these days.

Do you have any favourite PBR bulls to ride?
Buck Owens and Wild Thing and Lab Rat.
How did you get into bull riding?
Dad used to rodeo and I just sorta started doing a few rodeos around home and never really stopped. I was 10 or so. I went to America when I was 16 riding.
Did you look up to any particular bull riders as a young guy?
Mainly Troy Dunn really. Did one of his schools when I was younger and tried to craft my moves around his.
What are your plans for the remainder of 2010?
Probably go to America in a couple of weeks and try to get on (the PBR) tour. I’ll do that and come home and try and win the (PBR) Australian title. That’s the plan anyway.
What are your bull riding career goals?
To win an Australian Title and go over and make the finals and make a living out of bull riding instead of working.
